EY: Consumer Spending Will Fall in 2017


Consumer spending is expected to fall this year as increasing import costs and rising inflation squeeze households’ disposable incomes.

The impact of the dip in the value of sterling will see inflation rise to 3.1pc by the final quarter of this year, before easing back to 2pc by the end of 2018, the latest EY Item Club forecast said.
